Non NHS Services

The National Health Service (NHS) provides health care free of charge,  there are exceptions to this.  GP's are self employed and are contracted to provide NHS services for their patients.

At times we may be asked to carry out non-NHS services.  This could be Doctor reports,  certificates, medical requests, insurance documents etc.  As these are requests that are outside NHS tasks they will incur a fee.  That fee is  dependent on the time taken to complete the request and guidance from the BMA, using this link  www.bma.org.uk/pay-and-contracts/fees/why-doctors-charge-fees/why-does-my-doctor-charge-fees

Should you request a service that is classed as outwith the NHS contract you will be informed of this.  GP's are under no legal obligation to carry out the non-NHS service and as such they may be declined.

You will be advised of the relevant fee for all requests and payment will be taken before the task is carried out.  Any reports not collected after 28 days will be disposed of.

Thank you.
